When preparing for your engagement session the most important thing to remember is that this session is meant to be fun. Your engagement photos should be a reflection of who you are as a couple. It is my goal to create an atmosphere that is relaxing, and ensure that your personalities and love shine through in your portraits.
What to expect:
I want you to interact with one another (talk, kiss, cuddle, laugh i.e. lots of touching!) and show me how in love you are. I will guide you and suggest different poses when needed, but I urge you not to feel pressured to pose a certain way, or feel as if you should be doing anything specific. I'm looking to capture your most authentic moments. During our session I often take my time to evaluate the light and the location, waiting for the perfect moment to take your portrait. It is important that you feel comfortable and at ease, and are enjoying this time with your love.
When deciding on a location for your session, consider places that are meaningful to you as a couple. What are your favorite activities? Your favorite restaurant? Where did you meet? I understand that it may not always be possible to shoot in a familiar location, which is why I am happy to suggest locations as well.
I shoot all of my engagement sessions during "golden hour" either early in the morning after sunrise, or right before sunset on a sunny day. If rain is in the forecast, we can discuss options for indoor locations or simply reschedule our session.
Please feel free to bring 2-3 outfits varying from casual to formal that coordinate with your partner based on style and color scheme. Stray from busy prints, patterns, phrases and visible logos. Statement jewelry and pops of color are great ways to make your outfit stand out, and they photograph well. When choosing your outfits, think about where we'll be shooting and the look you're going for. If you need help choosing outfits, bring a few of your favorites and we can decide together on set. Dress stylish yet comfortable, and make sure to stay true to who you are.
HAIR & MAKEUP:
Ladies, your engagement session is the perfect opportunity to get all dolled up! Have you scheduled your bridal hair and makeup trial yet? If not, having it done for your engagement session is a great idea. I always recommend having professional makeup done for sessions to add that extra wow to your photos. You're having your makeup done for your wedding, so why not for your engagement session as well! If you're set on doing it yourself, I would recommend applying a little heavier than you normally would, as makeup looks much more subtle when photographed.
You will receive your images 3-5 weeks after your session in a minimal / easy to navigate password protected online gallery. Please feel free to share your images with your friends and family, but always remember to add proper credits.
I am so excited to be working together, and I'm looking forward to our session! If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to reach out!
